Artificial Light and Night explores the light that draws in wildlife at night; mainly birds, moths and other insects. The subsequent result of the artificial attraction frequently leads to the death of these creatures, by immolation, accidental entanglements and window strikes. As a species we must try harder in multiple ways to end the unnecessary death. Companies keeping interior building lights on at night cause the bulk of damage, and it is a two fold issue. Buildings waste an enormous amount of energy for the artificial lighting and therefore put a strain on our planets resources is one issue, but even more to the point is that the estimates of the number of birds killed in the United States (alone) each year range from 100 million to over 1 billion
