Home/HAWTHORNE BARN INSTALLATION

Birth of Commodity

An allegorical art installation employing life-size animals in a ‘diorama’ that explores the environmental consequences of patriarchal-driven capitalism.
The Hawthorne Barn was the setting for the initial installation through a residency with Twenty Summers, May 2023.

The installation was accompanied by living greenery and reeds, specialized lighting, a whale rib “weapon” and a sound element of modified amphibian calls. The exhibit ended with a robustly attended talk about ecofeminism and the exploitations by capitalism with a Q&A session.
